Second Brexit information session in Northern Ireland (Dungannon, June 2 2018)

Last Saturday, June 2, in Dungannon, Northern Ireland, the Consulate-General of Portugal in Manchester performed another information session regarding the status of Portuguese citizens in the United Kingdom in a post-Brexit context.

Just like the previous one in Portadown, this session had the support of the Honorary Consul in Belfast and the presence of an expert in immigration, representing the European Commission.

The information session was divided in two moments: one in the morning, conducted in Portuguese, and another one in the afternoon in Tetum. 130 citizens were present in total.

Many people took part in the session, having formulated questions over various subjects, including the permanent residence permit, settled status and temporary residence permit.

The importance for Portuguese citizens to do their consular registration as soon as possible, keep their identification and travel documents valid and organizing a file with documents that can prove their residence and initiation of professional activity in the United Kingdom. It was also advised for the citizens to check this website frequently, as well as the European Commission representation and Home Office websites.

The participants were pleased for the organization of a second information session in Northern Ireland, which they considered very useful.
