No, you don’t. You can use your Citizen Card as with any other European Union country, as the United Kingdom is still a member of the EU until 23:00 of 29 March 2019.
However, if you plan to reside in the United Kingdom, your are advised to have a valid passport. This country has no equivalent to the citizen card and many services require presentation of a passport.
No appointment is required for collecting documents. You can collect your citizen card or passport during our normal business hours, Monday to Friday, 8.45am to 12.30pm and 2.10pm to 4pm.
You will receive no notification that your passport is ready. So your passport should be ready for collection after five working days from the date of your appointment (or two working days, if you requested an urgent service). You will need to present the PIN letter in order to collect your citizen card. You should receive the PIN letter within 30 days of your appointment. If you do not, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to request a second PIN letter.
Please note that the PIN letter will be automatically sent to the address you provided on your citizen card application. This cannot be changed. So if you changed addresses since then, before you request a second PIN letter, you should contact your local post office to request the redirection of your post. Once this is in place, email this Consulate General to request the second PIN letter. When you receive this and collect your citizen card, you will then be able to update your address on your card.
Your citizen card will expire automatically one year after the issue date. As to your passport, you will need to collect it up to six months from the issue date.
Yes, it is. You will have to present a valid citizen card and in good condition. A copy or scan of your card will not be accepted.
