Due to the current health crisis caused by COVID-19, and having as our main priority the safety and wellbeing of our nationals, employees and their respective families, the Secretary of State for the Portuguese Communities, endorsed by the Ambassador of Portugal in London, has authorised a considerable reduction, from this date onwards, in the services provided by the Consulate General of Portugal in Manchester.
Thus, from today and until further instructions, I notify of the following:
I –OUTREACH CONSULAR VISITS
The outreach consular visits in Grantham (from the 25th until the 27th of March), Leicester (from the 6th until the 9th of April), Glasgow (from the 21st until the 24th of April), Northern Ireland (from the 12th until the 15th of May), Cardiff (from the 19th until the 22nd of May) have been postponed. New dates for these outreach consular visits will be published as soon as possible.
II – SERVICES AT THE CONSULATE
- Booking of consular services via Portal das Comunidades Portuguesas is currently suspended;
- All services at the consulate will be provided strictly by prior appointment only, including document collections;
- Emergency appointments must be booked via the Consular Call Centre for the United Kingdom or via the Consulate General of Portugal in Manchester.

III – INFORMATION / CLARIFICATIONS
Citizens must avoid travelling to the Consulate, favouring the alternative channels of communication available (telephone and email) for the Consular Call Centre for the United Kingdom and the Consulate General of Portugal in Manchester.
I apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation, during this unprecedented health crisis. Normal services at the Consulate General of Portugal in Manchester will resume as soon as possible. Therefore, I highly recommend visiting this webpage on a regular basis.

The dates for the Outreach Consular visits in 2020 have already been made available in Portal das Comunidades Portuguesas, which can be accessed HERE.
Appointments for the outreach consular visits are made exclusively via email; to email@example.com
In order to simplify the booking process, when sending the email please type “PC [followed by the name of the city]” on the subject field, and the following details on the main email:
- Full name;
- Date of birth;
- Citizen card’s expiry date (if applicable);
- Telephone number;
- Purpose of the appointment.
Family appointments can be booked in a single email; however the full details, highlighted above, must be sent for each family member for whom the appointment is required.
In celebration of Portugal's National Day, Portuguese organist André Ferreira will perform on the Stoller Organ an exclusive programme by Portuguese composers, including Frederico de Freitas and Luís de Freitas Branco.
André Ferreira graduated at the Amsterdam Conservatoire, where he studied under Jacques van Oortmerssen and worked with Pieter van Dijk, and he holds a Masters Degree in Organ Studies by the Lisbon School of Music where he studied with João Vaz. André performs regularly as a soloist and in music ensembles across Europe.
The recital is organised by the Consulate General of Portugal in Manchester in Partnership with Manchester Cathedral, and it is sponsored by the Instituto Camões.
As part of a variety of initiatives developed in order to support the Portuguese Community to prepare for the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union, a new Consular Call Centre for the UK – Brexit Line was launched on 1st April 2019. This centre is open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm (UK/Portugal time) and can be contacted on 020 36 36 84 70 or via firstname.lastname@example.org.
From 8th April 2019 to 31st December 2019, opening hours at this Consulate General will be extended as follows:
Monday to Friday, our new service hours are 8.15am to 12.30pm and 2.10pm to 5pm.
We will also be open to the public on the following Saturdays.
